From One Place to Another, Seeking God for Himself

Shalom!

Have you ever had a desire to get a spiritual high, but didn't want to spend the extra time to invest in the word of God? I know I have. It's fun to listen to my favorite worship song, but if I have to study the historical context between Israel and Edom, I'll quickly check out.

Above is an archaeological dig at Tel Megiddo. The archaeologists decided that, instead of analyzing every century of history, they would dig straight down to the history they wanted to see: the 1st century! In so doing, they destroyed centuries of other empires.

When I read the Bible, it is my tendency to pluck out the immediate application I find without processing the text for its historical and contextual meaning.

God would have us pursue Him wholeheartedly without a need for anything else...not songs or books or artworks or nature or conversations. JUST GOD. Yet He gives us these things we love to spark a passion that points to Him! Thank you, Lord!

The team has come a long way since November! Our two weeks before Christmas break were chocked full of fundraisers. We unified as a team in the process of making cutting boards (below), hosting babysitting afternoons at camp, and selling missions trip shirts! ...And now we're a day away from our trip to Slovenia!

Everyone on the team will have a day to write a blog (so you don't just have to hear my side of the coin). There you'll also find our daily posts from Israel. You can pray for our Slovenia trip:

- that God will prepare the hearts of those we will speak to on the ski-lifts and coffee shops.

- that God will give us confidence and compassion to share Jesus with boldness and love.

- that our leaders Joe, Keith, and Amanda will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in knowing where to be and when.

- that our website gotquestions.org and social media initiatives will allow people to stay connected after we leave (and they would be curious).
